Unveiling the secrets of the Athens Military Parade for the Greek Independence Day on March 25.

The military parade takes place along Vasilissis Sofias Avenue, a grand boulevard in central Athens. It passes in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and Hellenic Parliament building at Syntagma Square.
The parade then it continues down Panepistimiou Street and concludes at Omonia Square.

Presidential Guard (Evzones): The Evzones, dressed in their iconic traditional uniforms, lead the parade. These elite soldiers are known for their fustanella (a form of kilt) made of 30 meters of white fabric and consisting of 400 pleats, which representing the number of years of the turkish occupation, tsarouhi (shoe) and red pharion (cap), which carries the national emblem, symbolizes the sacrifices and blood spilled by the warriors during the nation’s liberation struggles, while its black silk tassel is a symbol of tears and mourning.
Greek Armed Forces: Units from the Hellenic Army, Hellenic Navy, and Hellenic Air Force participate. They march in precise formations, demonstrating their commitment to safeguarding the nation.
